TAEA art show features local artist

Terrell Alliance for Education and the Arts will sponsor an art show featuring the works of local artist Helen Musser, April 12-25,2002. The show, hosted by the American National Bank, will open with an artist's reception from 5:30 p. m. to 7 p.m. April 12. Musser, a native of Oklahoma, has been painting for almost 30 years. Since the 1980s, Musser's work has been featured in a number of exhibits, both locally and in Dallas. "A goal of mine has been to capture the spiritual self of man in a visual way through my art work," Musser said. Musser hopes her art communicates the part of us which is lasting and will never die. "This goal may never be realized, but hopefully there will be time for it,"She said.
"Meanwhile, I love to paint and feel compelled to do so."

I am very excited to tell you the painting Basic's; Air has been chosen as "Juror's Choice" in the Rockwall Artsts National Juried Art Exhibition 2002. The juror, Charles Wylie, curator of the Lupe Murchison Contemporary Art at the Dallas Museum of Art, chose three paintings of equal merit for the competition. I felt I was in very good company among those chosen. The Rockwall exhibition was very well done.
